That’s a really good question. I haven’t written in a good while now and a lot has happened since my last post. Which is probably why I haven’t had time, or the energy to post.
Christmas was awesome. As it turned out, my auntie, that was supposed to host the Christmas dinner, like she does every year, fell ill and so did her husband, so that was all cancelled. So for the whole of christmas eve it was just the family and lots and lots of food. We all got pyjamas in our morning present, so they went on and we spent the whole day moping around, being really comfortable and really well fed, slightly tipsy and very happy. We had a great time opening presents, eating and watching tv together, just hanging out with each other, which to me, is really what Christmas is all about. All in all it was a fantastic day and I’m quite happy that we didn’t have to be anywhere in the evening.
I got lots of money shaped presents this year, as well as some clothes and other things that would be easy to bring over here. I’m really happy with everything and I think the people on the recieving end of my gifts were happy as well. I finally found something for Kev as well. A really nice t-shirt from Esprit and a whole pile of Lindt chocolate. I think he was happy with it. I also brought over a present from mum and dad; a pair of pyjamas for him as well, since that’s wat all the other kids in the family got. =)
So yeah, he got that on the Sunday (28th) after picking me up at the airport. I was feeling a bit woozy and warm, but I thought that was just due to being tired and travelling all day, but when I woke up on the Monday morning to go to work it felt like my throat was filled with razors and I’d lost my voice. The only noises I could produce was some kinda of crippled squaks and I was freezing to the point of shivering even though I was under the covers with a blanket on top and a cardigan on. So I had Kev ask his parents if it was ok if I stayed for the dau since I wasn’t feeling well, while I stood in the background ad squaked. It was ok. And then I realise I didn’t have the nuber for my work, so I could call in sick, but I managed to send an email, which I found later in the day, didn’t reach its destination since my contact at Adecco was on holiday. but I got a number form the mail telling me that, so I could phone in in the end. So I spent the monday nad the tuesday tucket into bed, sleeping for the most part and not having very much fun. I went from being really cold to being really hot and from having no voice to coughing like a mental until finally, on new year’s eve, my nose was so blocked I could hardly taste the food. But I had an awesome time anyway. In spite of my blocked nose the food was great and so was the wine and everything else that was served. We stayed on till about 4am and there was lots of drinking and dancing and general fun times. I’m so glad I was well enough to come along and enjoy it.
New year’s day was spent being hung over and taking it easy, lying in be and generally not doing much of anything. I did however do the first drawing in my new picture diary and I’ve started keeping as a new year’s resolution with Maja. How’s that going btw? ^^ I found it quite difficult to think of something to draw last night, so it all came out a bit worse than I imagined it, but I think the artist’s block will go away once I get into the routin of drawing a little something every day.
So the weekend progressed in a very nice and clam fashion. Kev was off as well and we just ended up watching a bunch of movies and things and taking it really easy the whole time. On the Saturday we went into town to have some things changed and to have a look at the sales. I found a Mighty Boosh book on the Woolworths closing down sale and then in a tiny little goth type store we found, I found a really cute t-shirt with pacman ghosts on it. I’m well pleased with those purchases!
And then on the Sunday evening Kev drove me back to Greenock in the rain. Once there we found that my boiler had broke, so I had to sleep in the cold tonight. Not very pleasant at all. I phoned the estate agent first thing in the morning to see if there was anything they could do to help me, and there was. They had someone sent out to the flat during the day and I had word a while ago that the problem had been fixed, so hopefully I’ll get home to a nice and warm flat!
