It’s the little things…

// November 23rd, 2009 // 6 Comments » // Gaming, Life

Isn’t it absolutely wonderful when your boyfriend puts his hands on your hips and tells you he likes “this bit”, and then clarifies “waist”? Don’t answer, I’ll tell you! It’s the most wonderful thing ever. He makes me so happy! <3

I’ve done hardly anything this weekend. We did some laundry yesterday a driving lesson on Saturday, which was tons of fun, I must say! We practised a proper dual carriage  way and some single carriage country roads with national speed limit and I loved it! I thought the high speeds might intimidate me at first, but I found it wasn’t at all as scary as I had imagined, and a lot more fun! I did feel a bit intimidated by the oncoming traffic though and tried a bit too much to stay on my side of the road, which resulted in hitting the cat’s eyes a few times. That did however improve towards the end and I’m very pleased with the experience overall. Looking forward to my next lesson! Also looking forward to it not being football Saturday. The traffic around the stadium is horrible and seeing as we live quite close, out area is absolutely swamped with people trying to find parking, as well as with the council trying to make sure people aren’t parking where they’re not supposed to, something we encountered while trying to fill out the forms at the end of the lesson. We had to move due to an angry council-man staring at us from a van. Ridiculous when we only needed to stop for 5 minutes to get the papers in order!

Anyway, I’ve been playing Dragon Age on my laptop all weekend, fun fun fun, but I’m gonna restart when I get the new computer. It runs like crap on the laptop and I fear it’s about to overheat from the strain all the time. And I also made some choices in game that I regret, so I would like to give it another go.

But as per request by mum, there’ll be less nerding from here on! :P

Next weekend will be packed. Kev’s birthday on Sunday, so we’re going to his parents’ on Friday for dinner, going out with friends on Saturday, and then on Sunday, the parents are coming over to us for some tea or coffee in the afternoon. Busy busy! And I’ll be having a driving lesson, as well as wanting to assemble the computer. Work work!

I’m a bit scared Kev might be getting duplicate B-day presents from me and his parents. I don’t know what they bought, but I have a feeling he’s told them he wants what I’ve gotten him. We’ll see in a week’s time, won’t we! I’m a wee bit nervous.

Nerding: Status update

// November 19th, 2009 // 4 Comments » // Gaming

So, an update on my WoW business.

The guild bank: I have one! With the help of good friends and a few random signatures I managed to create a guild and give myself sole rights to the guild bank. Perfect for storing stuff! A++ would use again.

Glyphs: Yeah, like everyone else I decided to try my hand at making money from glyphs. However, I didn’t realise there was an MMO-champion guide for it until way after I started and frankly, I don’t agree with it. I much prefer using Auctioneer and KTQ for crafting and posting and I don’t believe in the 1c undercut method. That just seems really pointless and silly. I’d rather undercut more in order to secure a sale, fend off the competition at the same time and still profit. This method should mean a higher volume of sales and therefore a higher turnover in the long run. You may also piss people off, which can be a bit of fun.

I set a threshold for my glyphs at 3G. If the AH price goes below that I won’t post since it would be cheaper than the price to make the glyph. That applies even if I farmed the herbs for it. If I farm a stack of herbs and I realise that I can sell them for more on the AH than I would get for the glyphs I’d make from them, I’d just post the herbs instead of going through the trouble of crafting. Pretty straight forward. Just because you farmed something doesn’t mean it’s free. You spent time to farm that item that you could have spent on more entertaining things, don’t undervalue that!

Buying and reselling: I’ve not been doing that much of this lately. There haven’t been that many good deals and I’ve been focusing on the glyphs. However, I always do the Auctioneer resale search as well as my snatch search once every evening, just to see if there’s anything I can pick up for a profit. If there’s cheap herbs I always buyout/bid on them, seeing as I’m very low on ink at the moment.

Auctions: When I logged off last night I had 400 auctions running.

For a good guide on Auctioneer snatching go to Sarainy’s blog. There’s also a good video about Kevmar’s KTQ there.

It’s ordered and done with, so the suggestion box is closed :P

Here’s what I’ll be getting:

Google Chrome and PC advice

// November 16th, 2009 // 16 Comments » // Etc., Gadgets, Gaming

I installed Google Chrome yesterday and I love it! It’s really quick and very user friendly as well as pretty to the max! There’s a whole bunch of themes you can choose from on the official site and they’re much better integrated into the design than Firefox themes generally are.

There’s no extensions yet that you can use on a normal build of the browser, but there’s a whole bunch of them that works on the developer build. I’m not using that however, so I will patiently wait till they are released to the public. I’m especially excited about the gmail checker and the google reader plugin.

Needless to say, Chrome is what I’ll be using in the future.

And speaking of installing new things. I decided to try out Dragon Age: Origins during the weekend and I really like it. Straight back into Baldur’s Gate mode for me. :D Granted, I’ve not gotten that far yet, mainly because of my laptop not being able to handle it properly, which makes me sad. I’ve actually started thinking about getting a desktop computer fo real – Just so I can play all those fancy games that’s come out lately. I’m not sure it’s worth it, dishing out several hundred pounds for a computer to be able to play a £60 game. Although it’s all about priorities, I guess.

I’m going to look into it anyway, decide how much I can bear paying and then see what I’ll get for that. Hopefully I’ll be able to find something that meets both my requirements. ^^

Any advice is very helpful! I want to be able to play Dragon Age and similar new games on highest settings. I’m not one for hoarding films and music on my comp, so I don’t need vast amounts of hard drive space. That’s about it I guess. Hit me!

Nerding: Guild bank alt?

// November 13th, 2009 // No Comments » // Gaming

Today has been, and still is, a very nice and relaxed friday at work. Two of our long time team members are leaving, one for maternity leave and one for good (most likley). Good lyuck to you both Daniel and Michaela if you’re reading this! Really enjoyed the food you’d both made at lunch. ^^

And a long lunch it was; an hour and a half of eating and games. I won a bottle of wine! :D How good is that? I think it’ll be consumed tonight. I might need some alcohol if I plan to level up my new scribe from lvl 61 to 65. (Yeah, here I go with the WoW-malarky again!) I need lvl 65 to be able to learn the expansion recipes. So far, so good though – I’m at 371 herbalism and 332 inscription. I’ve been using the guides from http://www.wowalism.com to level the professions and the guide in my head to level up. Although I’m terribly bored with Hellfire and am thinking of just skipping it and go directly to Zangarmarsh.

I’m also planning on getting a Guild Bank for my bank alt. It’s poo that you need 10 sigs though. I thought it was only 5. But oh well… with a little help from my friends, I’m sure it’ll work out. I have 4 alts myself that I can put in there, and a friend is helping me with another sig. Hopefully the 5 sigs that are left won’t be that difficult to collect.

I think it’ll be very useful with a guild bank of my own, that’s quite a few extra bank slots once I can afford to buy all the tabs. And I won’t be risking loosing it all since I don’t think I’ll ever transfer. All of my friends that play are on my server and I love my guild, so the chances of me transfering are close to 0. If nothing else, it’s a fun little project to waste my time on.

Anyway, this was a bit of an eventless post. So here’s some more gold-links for you all!

http://www.ah-whoring.com/ : Some great posts about addons and crafting, as well as a very very useful spread sheet to calculate wins/losses on crafting and selling items.

http://www.ithinkincode.com/warcraft/ : the blog of Kevmar, the creator of the great crafting addon KTQ.

And that’s all. ^^
