A good deed

Yesterday afternoon I donated blood for the first time. It was uncomfortable and I do have a bruise on my arm now, but I bet I’ll be helping someone that’s in more pain than that, so I don’t mind.
It was in one of those donation buses that come round the country side, and in my case, large remote work places. It was very crowded when I got in, but everyone was very pleasant and as far as possible, everything went smoothly. At first I was a bit worried that my veins, that are very deep and can sometimes be difficult to find, would cause a problem, but it was fine. The second nurse that tried found one in my left arm and I was good to go.
I donated almost a pint of blood and then I got orange juice and shortbread and any other biscuit I desired really. As I was resting, they started packing up the van, since it was after 5pm. One of the nurses was packing up the biscuits and sneaked me a bag of tea cakes. I tried to protest, but she would have none of it! Tea cakes anyone?
I then got a lift to Braehead with one of the girls from my team, who’d kindly waited for me. I went straight fro the bus home from there, since I was exhausted, but unfortunately I managed to miss it and had to wait for the next one. I passed the time in Waterstone’s and HMV and ended up buying Bull Bailey’s latest DVD, the one where he teaches us about the orchestra. I was hoping we could watch it when I got home, but I decided I was just too exhausted to be able to appreciate it. I was supposed to cut Kev’s hair as well, but I will have to do that today. All I could do last night was to sit on the sofa and stare at TV screen.
Ended up going to bed before 10pm, which was nice for a change.
