Dictionary: Valenja and Leopold
A couple in their late fifties, first seen when helping Lucifel find his way to the temple of Uriel and the Lower Gate. They are the owners of the Marigold Inn in the little village of Verna, to the north of which Markus lives. They are not religious people per se, but every three years they make a pilgrimage to one of the angelic shrines, to pray and to leave an offering, but also for the simple joy of travelling and seeing new things.
Leopold was once a cartographer and in his youth he travelled far and wide, updating maps and writing travel guides which he sold as he went. He never made much money from these, but they are what brought him to Verna where he met Valenja.
She, Valenja, is a very robust, but kind hearted woman with both feet on the ground. She inherited the Marigold Inn from her mother, as she did from hers, and it is with pride, care and quite remarkable success she runs the small establishment. Before she met Leopold she’d never been further away from Verna than a small round woman would get on foot.
